High Point School Student Artists Featured at the Monmouth Arts Teen Arts Festival at Brookdale Community College

High Point School student Elianna A. earns top Silver Award for her submission which will be featured at the Monmouth Arts Teen Showcase at the Freehold Raceway Mall next month.

What a terrific day for High Point School (HPS) students!

Led by HPS Art Teacher Mrs. Diana Matos, HPS students traveled to Brookdale Community College for the Monmouth Arts Teen Arts Festival. The event celebrated the talents of almost 2,000 student artists from across Monmouth County. Over 700 pieces of student art work were featured from a wide range of schools including a selection of five pieces of High Point School student art. A panel of judges reviewed all 700 submissions at the show and awarded approximately 50 gold and silver star awards---one of which was awarded to High Point School student Elianna A.! All of our students were proud to participate and showcase their art!

As part of the exhibit and learning experience, students had a valuable opportunity to have a critique of their own artwork from a professional artist. As a wonderful coincidence, adjudicating for High Point School was former High Point School teacher, David Levy, who is co-president, docent and an exhibiting member of the Guild of Creative Arts, Shrewsbury, NJ. High Point School students enjoyed the memorable feedback and personal interaction of the adjudication which was unique for each student. In addition to the exhibit, the day included artistic workshops and exposure to dance, performance, visual and literary arts.

Thank you to Monmouth Arts for welcoming High Point School and a very special thank you to our friends at Brookdale Community College for hosting such an inspiring event--our students enjoyed touring the beautiful campus and the Center for Visual Arts.
