Our

Philosophy

High Point School is a State of New Jersey approved, private non-profit school for students with disabilities. Our approach is individualized and caring, and our school environment is inclusive. Meeting each child where they are academically, emotionally and socially, we are dedicated to understanding each child’s interests and personal goals–so that together with their family–we can provide support and guidance, while instilling self-confidence in their life journey.

How High Point Students Succeed

Our Core Values

Our collaborative and integrated approach helps High Point students succeed. With a shared set of goals that are meaningful to the child, we create a trusting environment so that students feel safe, understood, and confident to forge their own unique path.

We value students

Every child deserves an accepting space where they feel heard, understood, and valued. At High Point, we take the time to know and respect each child and their vision for success while making sure their unique needs are met--both academically and socially.

We are flexible and supportive

We adapt to every child’s needs and learning styles. Our school community develops strong relationships with each child and their family to find solutions that ensure supportive learning environments.

We provide integrated care

In addition to our highly experienced and caring faculty, our trauma-informed team includes doctors, nurses, licensed clinical social workers, crisis intervention specialists, and occupational and speech therapists. Our collaborative team approach provides the array of support that a child needs to feel confident and secure on their High Point journey.

MESSAGE FROM CHERYL MOUNTAIN, LCSW

I am so pleased to introduce you to High Point School--a State of New Jersey approved, private school for students with disabilities. We provide a NJ Department of Education approved curriculum for students ages 5-21, and grades K-12, from school districts throughout New Jersey. Our therapeutic support is comprised of onsite clinicians including: psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and speech & occupational therapists. Founded in 1960, we are proud of our history and the thousands of students we have supported over the years. High Point is located in the residential neighborhood of beautiful Morganville, New Jersey. Conveniently located, our expansive campus is equipped with comfortable learning spaces and socialization areas, a playground, peace garden, and an outdoor swimming pool.

Our students thrive in High Point’s non-traditional school setting, where they are given specialized supports, and unique opportunities to grow and discover their own potential. Students who attend High Point School have a wide range of specialized needs including depression, anxiety, behavioral and emotional disorders, as well as symptoms such as school refusal, adjustment difficulties, and low motivation. Often the students are working towards improving their socialization, mood, and attention skills, while building academic competence in their grade level.

At CPC’s High Point School, the philosophy is to surround each child with a caring and skilled safety-net of support—it’s an approach where each child has a team of professionals who embrace their journey, every step of the way—academically, socially, psychologically, and in terms of their physical needs. The integrated approach offers individualized academics, evidence-based positive behavior supports, medication management, individual and group therapy, and comprehensive clinical programming.

We welcome the opportunity to discuss if High Point School might be a fit for your child and tour you through our school; please email Caitlin Corradino, Intake Coordinator: ccorradino@cpcbhc.org, and she will coordinate. Please know that formal referrals are made through your child’s school and the Child Study Team—we welcome them to visit as well. We look forward to meeting you!

With warm regards,

Cheryl Mountain, LCSW
